Health Tourism Assistant
Health Tourism Assistant is a state-recognized or approved qualification from vocational schools under state law. It can be acquired at private vocational schools in Germany in several federal states (Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Brandenburg) . The training lasts two years.
entry requirements
This course is offered at private vocational schools in various federal states. Since the curriculum and the qualification are subject to state law, there are different entry requirements and curricula in the individual states. In most cases, the training requires an intermediate school leaving certificate.
Training content
The training usually includes three main areas:
- a department of health tourism , which is composed of the subjects health, sport, fitness, wellness and nutrition.
- a department of tourism and marketing, which is made up of the subjects of tourism, general and special marketing, hotel management and special geography.
- a specialist area of commercial fundamentals, which is largely analogous to commercial training content of dual commercial vocational training courses from the subjects of economics and business administration, commercial management and control, and legal and tax principles.
In addition, two foreign languages (English and an optional language (Spanish, French)), a lot of communication and sales training as well as general and subject-specific IT are usually taught.
Practical training
In addition to project work, either two 3-month internships or a 6-month internship at home or abroad are integrated into the training.
final examination
The training usually ends with written and practical exams; In addition, a practical specialist thesis counts as part of the final examination.

Health tourism assistants work in the organization, planning, advice and marketing of health tourism businesses. They work in the health hotel industry, at health resorts and tourist offices , in tourism associations, at thermal baths, spas, leisure and health resorts. Many operators of health tourism offers in the growth market health / wellness lack well-trained and customer-oriented specialists who seriously plan, develop, implement and market health tourism.
