Assistive Technology Service Provider Interface

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Assistive Technology Service Provider Interface ( AT-SPI ) is a GUI toolkit- spanning possibility to equip applications with possibilities of accessibility . It was developed by the Gnome Accessibility project. AT-SPI provides a logical representation of the user interface of an application. Aids such as screen readers or screen magnifiers can enable disabled people to navigate and use the applications.

AT-SPI can also be used with tools such as the Linux Desktop Testing Project or Dogtail for automated testing of user interfaces.

It is currently supported by GTK + 2, Java / Swing , the Mozilla Application Suite and StarOffice / OpenOffice.org . Trolltech (now Qt Software ) has also announced some support in Qt ( KDE's GUI library ).

The Free Standards Group is considering making AT-SPI a Linux standard.
