Association of American Physicians

The Association of American Physicians (AAP) is an American learned society. It was founded in 1885 by seven doctors, including William Osler . Their first annual meeting took place in 1886; the results were first published in the journal Transactions , which was replaced in 1995 by Proceedings of the Association of American Physicians , which covered more scientific areas. This magazine was also eventually discontinued.

The AAP now holds its annual meeting together with the American Society for Clinical Investigation . The AAP awards the George M. Kober Medal and Lectureship as a scientific award ; the George M. Kober Medal annually, the George M. Kober Lectureship every three years.

As of 2019, the organization has approximately 1,700 active members and 600 emeritus or honorary members, mostly from the United States and Canada . President (2019/2020) is Mary Klotman .
