Astrid Kirschey (born January 14 or April 13, 1964 as Astrid Heups in Wülfrath , Germany ) is a German photographer.

Career

She learned photography as a craft, a three-year apprenticeship with a focus on portraits and a final journeyman's examination laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to the subject. The years in Berlin followed, accompanied almost exclusively by black and white works for the music and artist scene. After a long break, she found her way back to photography in 2011. Since then she has been dealing with freely chosen exhibition topics. Since 2012, her project Generation Portraits has focused on people of different stripes and origins, across all social and cultural classes. 100 portraits of former steelworkers from Henrichshütte in Hattingen were created for the LWL-Industriemuseum and have been on view as a life-size installation on the museum grounds since April 2017. Astrid Kirschey is a member of the Solingen Artists and GEDOK . She is the owner of an art gallery in Solingen.
