The Ataturk University (Turkish: Ataturk Üniversitesi ) was founded in 1957 in Erzurum in Eastern Anatolia . The university has 17 faculties, 15 affiliated technical schools and academies, 6 institutes and a further 16 research facilities.
The foundation of the university library was a gift from the book collector Seyfettin Özege .
The university is a member of the network of Balkan universities and also has bilateral agreements with universities in Europe and the USA.
