Breath porality

Breath porality is the property of a grammatical tense to be able to represent generally valid facts, even if these are not in the temporal context for which this tense is actually intended. This applies in particular to the present tense , as this can also represent general and timeless facts. An example of this is the sentence “The sun goes down in the west”, in which the present tense is used, although this statement has also been true in the past and will also apply in the future. One speaks of a general (atemporal) present .
