Benjamin Boss

Benjamin Boss (born January 9, 1880 - October 17, 1970 ) was an American astronomer. He was the son of the astronomer Lewis Boss .

From 1906 to 1908 he was director of the US Naval Observatory in Tutuila , Samoa . After working at the Department of Meridian Astrometry at the Carnegie Institution of Washington, he became director of the Dudley Observatory in 1915.

In 1912 he became editor of the Astronomical Journal .

Benjamin Boss's field of work was positional astronomy , just like his father's .

His most important works were the Albany Catalog with 20811 stars, the San Luis Catalog with 15333 stars and the General Catalog with 33342 stars.
