Atlético El Vigía Fútbol Club is a Venezuelan football club from El Vigía . The club was founded in 1987 and plays its home games at the Estadio Ramón Hernández , which can seat 12,000 spectators. Atlético El Vigía has never been a Venezuelan football champion and currently plays in the Segunda División , the second highest division in Venezuela .

Atlético El Vigía was founded on October 31, 1987. Initially, the club played in the lower leagues of Venezuelan football. In the 1998/99 season, the club was promoted to the Primera División for the first time . There they finished tenth in the overall table in the first season and were able to celebrate relegation. But in the next season, 2000/01 Atlético El Vigía had to go into the second division and could only return to the Primera División two years later. This time, the direct relegation to the Segunda División took place in the first year after the promotion. The club stayed in the second division for three years and it wasn't until 2006/07 that they were promoted to the first division again. There a fifteenth place was reached, which meant relegation. 2009/10 Atlético El Vigía reached ninth place in the overall table, the best placement of the club in the first division. But the Apertura 2010 was again unsuccessful for Atlético El Vigía, they only reached the sixteenth and third from bottom rank, but this does not mean anything in terms of relegation, as the relegated team is determined by adding the two half-year seasons Apertura and Clausura.
