The atrium (formerly the Haus des Gastes or bath house ) is an event center in Bad Grund .

history

Before the turn of the century, the Gasthaus zum Schützenhaus , which was demolished in 1930, was located on the site of today's atrium . As a result, the bathhouse was opened as a municipal spa house. A special feature at that time was the dome made of ultravit glass, which was used as a sunbathing facility in winter. In 1951 the large glass dome on the spa house was removed. The name was changed to "Haus des Gastes" after the baths moved to the new spa center in the 1970s. A number of renovation measures have been carried out to date ; to the actual high point of the glass roof construction in 1992. Since summer 2004, the old “Haus des Gastes” has been called “ Atrium ”, which takes into account the bright, light-flooded ambience in the largest glass building in the Harz region . In the atrium there is a large, semicircular glass painting that shows the first bathing guest in Bad Grund around 1510, the Duchess Elisabeth of Braunschweig-Lüneburg . The event area has a total area of over 1600 m² and is considered the cultural center of the place. The atrium is also often used as a meeting place for the local council.
