Audax

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In road cycling , an audax is an organized long-distance event .

A distance (from 200 km) is driven in a closed formation at an average speed of 22.5 km / h. Until 1960 it was 20 km / h.

The most famous Audax is Paris – Brest – Paris over 1200 km. This Audax is organized by the Union des Audax Françaises every five years (while the Paris – Brest – Paris Brevet takes place every four years).

The counterpart to the Audax is the certification , in which the cyclists do not ride in a closed association, but set their own pace. In some countries (especially Great Britain and Australia) the term Audax is also used for brevets.
