Tommy Rees, Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback, changes his team's play at the 2010 Sun Bowl in El Paso with an Audible.

An audible in American football is a change in play on the line of scrimmage . It serves the offense as well as the defense to adapt to the opposing move. An audible can be called out using signs or words previously agreed in the team and change the following:

  • A completely new move is called
  • A player is given a new task ( Blitz → Zone),
  • The play is changed from pass to run or vice versa.
