The processing mechanic deals with the processing of hard coal , sand , gravel and natural stone as well as with the systems necessary for processing. These must be maintained and their proper operation monitored. Vocational training is regulated by law.

Subjects

Processing mechanics work in five disciplines in accordance with Section 2 AmAusBV :

  • Natural stone
  • Refractory and ceramic raw materials
  • Sand and gravel
  • Hard coal
  • Brown coal

Processing mechanics have a technical understanding of handling processing machines and often work in teams. Processing mechanics find employment in natural stone works, stone processing companies, sand and gravel extraction companies, processing plants in hard coal mines and recycling companies.

Through the recycling of building materials, the job of the processing mechanic has also expanded to include the recycling of building materials. Demolition material consisting of concrete , ceramic or natural stone has to be shredded and separated with the help of processing plants and can thus be reused.
