The Church of the Resurrection is a Protestant church in Aachen - Forst , its parish belongs to the Protestant church district of Aachen .

history

After the Second World War , many new settlements for refugees from the east emerged in Aachen-Forst. As a result, the Protestant community grew strongly. In the 1950s, church services were still held in the Protestant primary school in Forst. In 1959 a plot of land for a church was acquired.

The Hamburg architect Gerhard Langmaack designed a large, simple church service room with a high-lying ribbon of windows. The 38 m high square bell tower is separated from the rest of the building. The foundation stone was laid on February 11, 1962, the opening service on July 7, 1963.

In 2002 the church service room was redesigned and the sober clarity of the room was emphasized. Since then, the rooms have also been used for artistic activities such as theater, dance, meeting festivals or light installations.
