The FFH area Argen and wetlands near Neukirch and Langnau is located in the south-east of Baden-Württemberg and is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas . It was designated in 2015 by the merging of the two existing FFH areas Argen and wetlands south of Langnau as well as moors and ponds around Neukirch by the Tübingen regional council.

location

The approximately 751 hectare (ha) protected area Argen and wetlands near Neukirch and Langnau is located in the natural areas of the Westallgäu hill country and Lake Constance basin . The 34 sub-areas are located in the communities of Achberg , Amtzell , Bodnegg and Wangen im Allgäu in the district of Ravensburg as well as Kressbronn on Lake Constance , Langenargen , Neukirch and Tettnang in the Lake Constance district.

description

The nature of the landscape of the protected area is essentially determined by the course of the Argen river between the confluence of the Upper and Lower Argen and the confluence with Lake Constance. There are also numerous, scattered, smaller wetlands, ponds and lakes in the vicinity of the area.

history

The protected area was created by amalgamating the original FFH areas 8324-341 “ Moore and Weiher around Neukirch ” and 8323-342 “ Argen and wetlands south of Langnau ”. These have existed since 2005.
