The Schachried is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.310) in the northeast of the municipality of Kressbronn on Lake Constance and in the southwest of the Langnau district in Baden-Württemberg in Germany, which belongs to Tettnang and designated by ordinance of February 15, 2005 of the Tübingen regional council .
location
The approximately eleven hectares large nature reserve Chess Ried - about eight hectares lying on Kressbronner, around three hectares to the Tettnang region - is part of the natural environment Westallgäuer hills . It extends northeast of the Kressbronn district of Riedensweiler , south of Schleinsee , west of the Tettnang hamlet Wettis and southwest of Degersee at an altitude of 480 m above sea level. NN . This area is designated as Schachried and Schalkriedmoos on the land maps .
geology
In the Würm Ice Age , about 20,000 years ago, coined the Rhine - foreland glaciers , the landscape around the chess Ried. Today, the drumlins represent the typical shape of the terrain. In the north ( Schachhalde ) and south ( Langenberg ), Schachried is surrounded by moraines from the Würm period . In between, a silting bog was created with a sequence of layers of sedge turf over alluvial peat and hollows.
Protection purpose
According to the FFH directive of 1992, the central fen areas of the protected area are of community importance and part of the nature reserve and landscape protection area " Argen und Feuchtgebiet south of Langnau ".
The main protection purpose is the preservation and upgrading of the large flat moor complex with various types of biotopes.
Special protection applies to the preservation of the bog soils as well as the meadow and pipe grass meadows with their flora and fauna.

Of the plant species identified so far in Schachried , according to the Red List of Threatened Species of Baden-Württemberg, seven species are in need of protection, nineteen species are endangered and five species are endangered. Fifteen of these species are specially protected under the Federal Species Protection Ordinance (BArtSchV).

From the worth protecting fauna following species are:
- Heilziest thick-headed butterfly ( Carcharodus floccifera ); a butterfly (day butterfly) from the thick-headed butterfly family
- Blue gentian blue ( Phengaris alcon ), also small blue blue ; a butterfly (butterfly) from the family of Bläulinge
- Common frog ( Rana temporaria ); a species from the real frog family
- possibly golden snail butterfly ( Euphydryas aurinia )

bad luck
At the beginning of February 2012, a horse and rider broke into a frozen drainage ditch in Schachried. With the help of a wheel loader and belt slings, the Kressbronn volunteer fire brigade freed the animal from the ditch and handed it over to the owner.
