The Katharinenfelsen area is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.154) in the northwest of the Baden-Württemberg city of Überlingen on Lake Constance in Germany, which was designated by the Tübingen Regional Council in the ordinance of February 16, 1989 .
location
The approximately four hectare nature reserve Katharinenfelsen naturally belongs to the Lake Constance basin . It is located northwest of Ueberlingen and north of the national road 31 , between the Überlinger districts Brünnensbach the east, Hödingen in the north and to Sipplingen belonging district sweetening mill in the West at an altitude of 420 m above sea level. NN . The nature reserve includes the Spielberg , Oberer and Unterer Dachsberg corridors .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation and upgrading of the unique landscape structure with rock formations and glacier pots .
In particular, the rock formations with the glacier pot, which is unique for the surrounding area, the natural vegetation with the white clover and pine forest, the rock band corridors, the fringing communities and the semi- arid grass as well as the orchards are to be particularly protected and promoted in their ecological function .
Surname
The name Katharinenfelsen has established itself as the name for this area among the population . It is derived from the small rock chapel of St. Katharinen , which used to be at the foot of the rock face, but fell victim to road construction along with the legendary Heidenhöhlen in the middle of the 19th century.

Among the flora worthy of protection , in addition to the goat clover-pine forest, blackthorn and privet bushes, the following plant species should be mentioned:
- the Cheddar pink ( Dianthus gratianopolitanus ), a kind from the family of the Pink family
