The Köstenerberg area is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.152) designated by the ordinance of February 16, 1989 of the Tübingen regional council in the area of the Baden-Württemberg community of Sipplingen in the Lake Constance district in Germany .
location
The approximately 16 hectares (ha) large protected area Köstenerberg , northwest Sipplingens between berries and Pfefferburg , above the national road 31 towards Bodman-Ludwigshafen and the railway line Stahringen-Friedrichshafen , as well as below the 615 meters high Künstbergs located, belongs nature spatially to Constance basin and lies at an altitude of 400 to 530 m above sea level. NN .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose of the NSG Köstenerberg is the preservation of the extremely natural and diverse vegetation as a rare habitat for a large number of endangered and specially protected plant and animal species.
Flora and fauna

Among the flora worthy of protection are the following plants:
- Beech , a genus in the beech family
- Goat clover , a genus of gorse-like shrubs from the legume family
- Pines , also called Scots or Forlen, are a genus of coniferous plants in the pine family
- Sedges , a genus of the sour grass family
- the Upright brome ( Bromus erectus ), a high meadow grass of the family of Gramineae
- the peach-leaved bellflower ( Campanula persicifolia ), a member of the bluebell family
- the forest hawkweed ( Hieracium murorum ), a species of the sunflower family
fauna
From the worth protecting fauna in addition to more than 80 are bee species are animals to be mentioned:
- the mountain warbler ( Phylloscopus bonelli ), a songbird from the warbler family
- the dormouse ( Muscardinus avellanarius ), a mouse-like, nocturnal rodent from the dormouse family
- the Neuntöter ( lanius collurio ) or Rotrückenwürger , a species from the family of Würger
- the dormouse ( Glis glis ), also a nocturnal rodent from the dormouse family
- the wryneck ( Jynx torquilla ), the only European species of bird of the genus Jynx from the woodpecker family
