The warbler-like (Sylviidae) are a family of songbirds from the order of the passerine birds (Passeriformes).
description
The warbler-like are small to medium-sized warblers with powerful bills and legs. The tail is mostly long and cut straight, many species have white markings in the outer tail feathers . The sexes are mostly colored differently . They feed on arthropods and berries, live mainly in dense vegetation and are free breeders . Many species have singing flights during the breeding season with which females are attracted or the territory is demarcated.
Systematics
The demarcation to the likewise very species-rich families of the stalk warbler-like (Cisticolidae) and the Timalien (Timaliidae) is difficult. The former family is sometimes considered to be a subfamily of the warblers, and the latter is sometimes associated with them. After its dissolution, the family of parrot's beaks was initially assigned to the timalia, in 2009 by Gelang et al. incorporated in the warblers.
