NN . This area is designated as Schönmoos , Brühl and Küchenacker on the land maps .
geology
In the Würm Ice Age , about 20,000 years ago, coined the Rhine - foreland glaciers , the landscape around the chess Ried. Today the drumlins represent the typical shape of the terrain. In the north, east and south the Schönmoos is surrounded by drum-lined moraines , in the west (base wood ) by a ground moraine and small terminal moraine walls. In the ice age meltwater channel lying in between, the Schönmoos was created by bogging the water-filled depression. A raised bog with sedge-break-flat bog turf developed in the top soil layer.
Protection purpose
According to the FFH directive of 1992, the central fen areas of the protected area are of community importance and part of the nature reserve and landscape protection area " Argen und Feuchtgebiet south of Langnau ".
The main protection purpose is the preservation and upgrading of the flat bog complex with different biotope types and species compositions.
Special protection applies to the preservation of the bog soils and the marshmallow meadows with the butterflies , rams and meadow breeders that live there.
