The Schwarzer Graben area is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.208) in the area of the municipality of Salem in Baden-Württemberg , Germany, designated by the ordinance of July 24, 1992 by the Tübingen regional council .
location
The approximately 28 hectare (ha) large nature reserve Schwarzer Graben , in the north of Salem, between the hamlets of Weildorf in the east, Stefansfeld in the south and Schwandorf in the west, is part of the Lake Constance basin and is at an altitude of 445 m above sea level. NN . The Salem-Killenweiher landscape protection area (NSG 4.35.030) connects to the southwest .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose of the NSG Schwarzer Graben is the maintenance and calming of wet meadows as breeding, feeding and resting places for meadow breeders and migrating bird species.

The fauna worthy of protection includes the following species:
- The snow bunting ( Plectrophenax nivalis ), a species of bird in the family of bunting
- The white stork ( Ciconia ciconia ), a species of bird in the stork family
