The approximately 28 hectare (ha) large nature reserve Schwarzer Graben , in the north of Salem, between the hamlets of Weildorf in the east, Stefansfeld in the south and Schwandorf in the west, is part of the Lake Constance basin and is at an altitude of 445  m above sea level.
