The area around the former Berger Weiher is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.315) in the north of the Baden-Württemberg community of Kressbronn on Lake Constance in Germany, which was designated by ordinance of May 18, 2007 by the Tübingen regional council .

location

The approximately 19 hectare large nature reserve Weiher is one natural area to Westallgäuer hills . It is located northwest of the Kressbronn district of Berg at an altitude of 450  m above sea level. NN , right and left of the district road K 7777 ("Zum Berger Weiher", partly on the former Weiherdamm) to Nitzenweiler and along the westward Betznauer Bach and the road to Haltmaierhof . This area is designated as Berger Weiher and Bachtobel on the land maps .

geology

In the Würm Ice Age , about 20,000 years ago, coined the Rhine - foreland glaciers , the landscape around the Weiher. The drumlins represent the typical terrain here today. In the north, west and south the Berger Weiher is surrounded by older terminal moraines , in the east by a ground moraine. The subsoil consists of a lime and clay hollow, which is filled with sedge peat and sedge reed peat. In the area of the pond include Berger 0.5 hectares Anmoor and 12.5 hectare fen .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation and upgrading of the flat limestone bog complex in the basin of the former pond .
The wet grass and
pipe grass meadows with the butterflies that live there are particularly protected .

According to the FFH directive of 1992, the central fen areas of the protected area are of community importance and part of the nature reserve and landscape protection area " Argen und Feuchtgebiet south of Langnau ".

Of the plant species identified so far in the Berger Weiher , according to the Red List of Threatened Species of Baden-Württemberg, six species are in need of conservation, fourteen species are endangered and five species are endangered. Fourteen of these species are specially protected under the Federal Species Protection Ordinance (BArtSchV).
