The Salem-Killenweiher area is a landscape protection area (LSG number 4.35.030) in the Baden-Württemberg community of Salem in the Lake Constance district in Germany, which was designated by the Landratsamt Bodenseekreis as a lower nature conservation authority by ordinance of September 17, 1951 .

location

The 550 hectare large conservation area Salem Killen Weiher is one natural area to Linzgau . It extends west of the districts of Salem and Mimmenhausen over a length of around five and a half kilometers between state road 205 in the north and county road 7782 in the south. The area includes the eponymous Killenweiher , Bifang , Martins and Markgräfinweiher as well as parts of the Tüfinger Forest and the Banzenreuter Forest .

The Salem monastery ponds are part of the European bird sanctuary of the same name, which was designated in 2003 .

geology

In the Würm Ice Age , about 20,000 years ago, coined the Rhine - foreland glaciers the area north of Lake Constance . Today the drumlins represent the typical terrain of the terminal moraine landscape.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation of the landscape around the castle district with Forsterhof , Krankenhalde , Kirchberghölzle , Leopoldshöhe , Scheuerbuch , Spitznagelhof , Wacholderbühl and the above-mentioned ponds .
