Herzogenweiher nature reserve
The main protection purpose of the nature reserve surrounding the pond is the preservation of the water and the adjoining reed areas and wet meadows as characteristic but highly endangered elements of the Upper Swabian cultural landscape, as an ecologically valuable retreat for rare plant and animal species and, in particular, as a resting place for bird migration. The purpose of protection also includes the goal of undoing damage that has already occurred and interventions in the past.
