Lü Xiaojun ( Chinese  吕小军 , Pinyin Lǚ Xiǎojūn ; born July 27, 1984 in Hubei ) is a Chinese weightlifter . He became world middleweight champion (up to 77 kg) in 2009, 2011 and 2013, world middleweight champion in 2018 (up to 81 kg) and 2012 Olympic champion in this weight class.

Career

In his youth, Lü Xiaojun was a track and field athlete (sprinter). Because he was too small for that, he switched to weightlifting and quickly developed into a top lifter. He starts for the team from Tianjin .

In 2004 he was in Minsk junior world champion kg lightweight with an output of 322.5 (147.5 to 175) challenges ahead of compatriot Yao Yuewei, 320 kg (152.5 to 167.5) and Mete Binay of of Turkey and 315 kg (145-170). No results are known from the next three years, which served to build up his performance.

In April 2008, he finished at the Chinese Middleweight Championship with 362 kg (163-199), 3rd place behind Li Hongli , 364 kg (163-201) and Li Shuangzhou, 363 kg (163-200). He narrowly missed a starting place at the Olympic Games in Beijing . Instead, he was used at the 2008 Asian Cup in Kanazawa . There he was no longer in the best shape and had to admit defeat to his compatriot Lu Changliang, 347 kg (152-195) in the middleweight division with 346 kg (158-188).

At the Chinese championship in 2009 he increased in a duel to 373 kg (170-203), but was still there by Su Dajin , who achieved 374 kg (165-209), beaten. Together with this lifter, he was then used at the world championship in Goyang / South Korea in the middleweight division. In Goyang he achieved a new world record in snatch with 174 kg. Together with his performance in pushing of 204 kg, he achieved 378 kg in a duel, which was also a new world record. Plamen Jeliaskow from Bulgaria held the old world record with 377 kg. Lü Xiaojun was with his performance new world champion before Tigran Geworg Martirosjan from Armenia , who came to 370 kg (170-200) and Su Dajin, who could not quite repeat his performance from the Chinese championship with 365 kg (165-200).

At the 2010 World Championships in Antalya , Tigran Martirosjan was again the main competitor of Lü Xiaojun in the middleweight division. In the tear, Lü managed 170 kg in the second attempt and was then sent by his Chinese trainers to the world record load of 175 kg. But he couldn't handle this weight. Martirosjan had torn 173 kg in the meantime and was thus world champion . Martirosjan initially failed in pushing at 200 kg, which Lü Xiaojun pushed in the first attempt. In his second attempt, Martirosjan mastered 200 kg and took 205 kg for his third attempt, but again clearly failed in the output. Lü then had the opportunity to overtake Tigran Martirosjan with a kicked 206 kg and become world champion in duels and jerks. Surprisingly, however, it failed twice because of this weight, each time with the ejection. In this duel it became very clear that the standing push technique, which both lifters used, brings with it major problems in the ejection. Both Lü Xiaojun and Tigran Martirosjan implement the weights they have taken very easily, but both were unable to fix the dumbbell that was already above their head twice when they were pushed out, because it was either too far in front of or too far behind the body's center of gravity and therefore at Getting up fell off.

In 2011 Lü Xiaojun became world champion again in Paris. He reached there in a duel 375 kg (170–205). With this result, he referred his compatriot Su Dajin , who weighed 372 kg (166-206) and the 2008 Olympic champion Sa Jae-hyouk , South Korea, 360 kg (157-203).

In 2012 he suffered a surprising defeat at the Chinese championship in Fuzhan. He achieved there in a duel 373 kg (172-201) and was defeated by Lu Haojie, who came to 375 kg (175-200). At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , he was able to return the favor and win the gold medal ahead of Lu Haojie . He achieved 379 kg (175-204) in a duel and was clearly ahead of Lu Haojie, who only came to 360 kg (170-190).

Lü Xiaojun achieved another world championship title in a duel at the 2013 World Championships in Wrocław. He achieved 380 kg (176–204). The achievements in the duel and in the snatch were world records. In September 2014 he also won the Asian Games in Incheon / South Korea. He achieved 375 kg (175-200) in a duel.
