Mohamed Ihab
Mahmoud Mohamed Ihab Youssef Ahmed (born November 21, 1989 in Faijum ) is an Egyptian weightlifter . He won at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , the bronze medal in the middleweight division . In 2017 he became world champion in duel, snatch and push in the same weight class in Anaheim .
Career
Mohamed Ihab grew km where about 100 south of Cairo located Fayoum on. His father was already a weight lifter and encouraged his son Mohamed to do this sport too. In his student years, Mohamed Ihab also did rings . Soon, however, his greater talent for weightlifting emerged and he focused on this sport. At the age of fifteen and a half he was accepted into the junior national team of Egypt.
At the age of 18, he started for the first time in an international championship, the Junior World Championship in Prague . At that time it was still very light and started in bantamweight , the weight class up to 56 kg body weight. With his performance of 238 kg (105-133), he achieved 5th place. At the Junior World Championship in 2008 he came in featherweight (up to 62 kg) to 272 kg (123-149) and won the silver medal.
In 2009 Mohamed Ihab was used at four international championships. At the Junior World Championships in Bucharest he achieved featherweight 284 kg (128-156), which reached 4th place. After that he became both the African champion in the seniors and in the juniors. Both times he achieved 275 kg (125-150) in a duel. At the World Championships in Goyang, where he was the first time with the seniors, he lifted 280 kg (126-154) in a duel and thus reached 12th place.
His next start at an international championship was again in 2011. At the Summer Universiade in Shenzen, he reached featherweight 282 kg (127–155) and just missed the medal ranks with 4th place.
In the spring of 2012 Mohamed Ihab was convicted of doping and banned for two years. Thus he missed participating in the 2012 Olympic Games in London and at the World Championship-2013.
In 2014 he came back and was at the world championship in Almaty in the lightweight with an output of 334 kg (152-182) vice world champion in duels and jerks. In the tear he came in 3rd place. Also at the 2015 World Championships in Houston, where he started in the middleweight division, he was with 363 kg (162-201) vice world champion in duels and jerks.
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Mohamed Ihab achieved 361 kg (165–196) in a duel, winning behind Nischat Rachimow from Kazakhstan, 379 kg (165–214) and Lu Xiaojun, China, 379 kg (177–202) the bronze medal. Medals in the individual disciplines of snatching and pushing are not awarded at the Olympic Games.
In 2017 he was African champion in the weight class up to 85 kg with a performance of 348 (158-190). At the World Championships that year in Anaheim he achieved the greatest success in his weightlifting career, because he was there in the middleweight world champion with a duel of 361 kg (165-196). He also won the gold medal in the individual disciplines of snatching and pushing.
