The Olzreuter See is a still body of water in the area of the city Bad Schussenried in the Baden-Württemberg district of Biberach in Germany .
location
The approximately ten hectare "Olzreuter See" is about 1.8 kilometers northeast of Bad Schussenried town center, at an altitude of 570.6 m above sea level. NHN , between the up to 603.2 m above sea level. NHN high Aspen in the northeast and the districts of Kleinwinnaden in the northwest and Olzreute in the south.
The lake is owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg, which has leased it to a local fishing club .
Hydrology
The catchment area of the "Olzreuter See" extends over 248 hectares. The size of the water surface is 10.4 hectares , with an average depth of 3.2 meters and a maximum depth of 7.6 meters, the volume is around 330,000 cubic meters.
The inflow of the lake is through groundwater and drainage ditches, the outflow through a meadow ditch and the shots into Lake Constance , thus into the Rhine and ultimately into the North Sea .
ecology
Since 2000 Bad Schussenried has been involved in the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes with the “Olzreuter See” . An important goal of this program is to reduce nutrient inputs in streams, lakes and ponds and thereby improve and maintain the condition of the water bodies.
Ten percent of the lake's catchment area is used for forest and 80 percent for agriculture - 52 percent of which is grassland and 48 percent arable land.

Prehistoric settlement
On the shores of the lake, on the peninsula in the northeast, is the archaeological site of a prehistoric settlement from the period from 3,000 to 2,500 BC. It belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage “ Prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps ”.
