The Scheibensee is a still water in the area of the Baden-Württemberg community Waldburg in the district of Ravensburg in Germany .

location

The only 0.2  hectare (ha) large Scheibensee naturally belongs to the Westallgäu hill country . It is located about 1.25 kilometers southeast of the center of Waldburg, within the 5.64 hectare Scheibensee nature reserve , which was designated in 1967 , at an altitude of 663  m above sea level. NHN .

description

The lake created in a former dead ice hole was around three times larger than it is today until an artificial drainage ditch was built in 1915. Due to the rapidly advancing siltation , the open water surface of the lake with a diameter of around 30 meters will have disappeared in a few years. Today the Scheibensee is owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg.

Hydrology

The catchment area of the Scheibensee is around 110 ha; 20 percent of this is used for forestry and 55 percent for agriculture.
The lake is mainly fed by groundwater and from the water flowing in from the surrounding moor . The outflow is via the Edensbach into the Holzmühleweiher and the Haslach into the Untere Argen .

ecology

No samples can be taken from the lake due to the silting process.

With the help of the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes , the planning of extensification measures was implemented in the years before 2010 .
