The Blausee is an oligotrophic still water south of the Wangen district Primisweiler in the district of Ravensburg in Baden-Württemberg .
geography
The Blausee is located in the southwest of the urban area at an altitude of 541 m above sea level. NHN . The A96 motorway runs directly southeast of the lake . The Blausee belongs together with the Mittelsee , Oberersee and Teufelsee ( silted up ) to the Primisweiler Lake District . It was formed in a dead ice hole around 16,000 years ago towards the end of the Würm Ice Age and drew its water from the melting glaciers. Today it no longer has any superficial inflows and draws its water from precipitation and groundwater inflows , so it is a so-called sky pond . Originally it drained to the north, to the now silted Teufelsee and from there to the Untere Argen . This drainage route failed with changing groundwater levels and a drainage ditch was created so that the excess water now flows south of the Upper Argen . The approximately 2.4 hectare lake has a length of 274 m in north-south direction and measures 155 m at its widest point. At its deepest point, the lake measures 3.8 meters and has a volume of around 63,400 cubic meters.
The lake used to be much larger, but the construction of the drainage ditch has silted up the southern part of the lake in particular.
Todays use
The Blausee is used for fishing; as stocking fish is found mainly carp , but it also provides a habitat for many species of water-loving breed birds. There is a bathing jetty on its western and eastern bank for recreational use.
