The Niklassee is a still water in the area of the Baden-Württemberg city of Bad Schussenried in the district of Biberach in Germany .
location
The 3.2 hectare large Niklassee , about 2.8 kilometers northwest of the Schussenrieder center at an altitude of 569 m above sea level. NHN , is owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the Biberach district office and leased to a fishing company .
Hydrology
The lake, which was formed at the end of the last ice age around 16,000 years ago, now has a catchment area of around 84 hectares. The size of the water surface is 3.2 hectares, with an average depth of 2.4 meters and a maximum depth of 3.8 meters, the volume is around 78,100 cubic meters.
The main inflow of the lake is via groundwater and several ditches, the outflow via the Wiesenbach and the Krebsgraben to the Schwaigfurter Weiher and from there via the Schussen into Lake Constance / Rhine and ultimately into the North Sea .
ecology
Since 2000 Bad Schussenried is the Niklassee the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes involved. An important goal of this program is to reduce nutrient inputs in streams, lakes and ponds and thereby improve and maintain the condition of the water bodies.
The catchment area of the lake is used to 30 percent for forest and 70 percent for agriculture - mainly arable land (55%) and grassland (15%).
