The Muttelsee is a body of water in the area of the Baden-Württemberg city of Tettnang in the Lake Constance district in Germany.
location and size
The lake is about eight and a half kilometers southeast of Tettnang town center, just north of the hamlet of the same name Muttelsee in a conservation area ( FFH area ) at an altitude of 491.9 meters above sea level. NHN and is owned by the Degerseegruppe water supply .
The size of the lake basin is 8.2 hectares (about 375 meters x 330 meters), its maximum depth is 6.5 meters, the average depth is 3.4 meters; this results in a lake volume of 275,000 cubic meters . The approximately 1.1 km long bank zone is flat and overgrown with the plants typical of silting zones . The catchment area of the Muttelsee covers about 35 hectares; ten percent of this is forests and 90 percent is used for agriculture (90 percent of which is grassland and five percent each of arable land and hops ).
The lake and the silting areas surrounding it (a total of 11,165 hectares) have been placed under special nature protection as a biotope (biotope number 183244356591) since May 1995 .
Emergence
Like the lying near Deger- , Wieland and Schleinsee was the Muttelsee towards the end of the last ice age about 16,000 years ago in a Toteisloch . The tributaries of the lake consist of drainage water and several internal springs. The water of the Muttelsee flows over the Nonnenbach into Lake Constance and thus into the river system of the Rhine .

flora
The entire shore is of reeds reeds surrounded. Furthermore, the white water lily ( Nymphaea alba ), the yellow pond rose ( Nuphar lutea ), the great mermaid ( Najas marina ) and the frilled pondweed ( Potamogeton crispus ) grow here .
fauna
Eel , perch , pike , carp , roach , rudd , tench , catfish and pikeperch were present in the lake until 1993 .
