The Argensee is a still water in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg community Kißlegg in the district of Ravensburg in Germany .

location

The approximately 27 hectares large Argensee , about three and a half kilometers southeast of Kißlegg center at an altitude of 655.3  meters above sea level. Located at the NHN , it is used today for fishing and swimming.

Hydrology

The lake was formed around 16,000 years ago towards the end of the last glacial period. Its catchment area extends to 573 hectares. The size of the water surface is 26.7  hectares , with an average depth of 4.0 meters and a maximum depth of 8.0 meters, the volume is around 1,077,000 cubic meters.

The main inflow of the lake takes place from the north and northeast through several ditches and the Gebrazhofer Bach , the outflow over the Wuhrmühleweiher and Argenseebach to Wolfegger Ach and Schussen into Lake Constance and thus to the Rhine and ultimately into the North Sea .

By 2015 Kißlegg and were Leutkirch im Allgäu (only catchment area) with the Argensee the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes involved.
