The Wolfegger Ach is a left or eastern and at the same time the most water-rich tributary of the Schussen in the Upper Swabian district of Ravensburg in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ).
The Wolfegger Ach rises on the western edge of the Western Allgäu . It flows from the Obersee , which is located north of the municipality of Kißlegg . From there it runs in a predominantly westerly direction via Kißlegg to Wolfegg and then flows through the middle part of the Altdorf Forest . Then the Wolfegger Ach runs to Baienfurt . It flows between the districts of Binningen in the south and Niederbiegen in the north , which are a few kilometers west of the core town, into the Schussen , which comes from the north and is a tributary of Lake Constance .
Protected area
In the area between Vogt and Wolfegg, part of the river valley is designated as a nature reserve Wolfegger Ach . The main protection purpose is the preservation - and in part the restoration - of the Wolfegger Ach Valley as one of the few examples of a near-natural pre-alpine river lowland characterized by extensive meadow use that has survived to this day.
