Dixons Retail plc , formerly DSG International , before Dixons Group plc , was a retail company from the UK . The company was listed on the FTSE 100 Index on the London Stock Exchange . On August 7, 2014, Dixons Retail plc merged with The Carphone Warehouse plc to form Dixons Carphone plc .

Dixons Retail operated the retail chains Dixons , Currys , PC World , The Link and Mastercare in Great Britain and the retail chains Electro World , UniEuro, Elkjöp, PC City and K ... in Europe.

The company's headquarters were in Hemel Hempstead , England . The company was founded as Dixon Studios on October 27, 1937 and in 2005 employed around 40,450 people.

Dixons Retail specialized in the sale of high technology products such as personal computers, cameras and their accessories, as well as communication products.
