Landscape protection area
The Obersee is part of the Rötsee landscape protection area, which was designated in 1979 . It is essentially characterized by raised bogs , flat bogs , lakes, ponds and other landscape forms from the Ice Ages and also shows a rich alternation between meadows and arable land and forests. By placing it under protection, the special recreational value of the delightful natural landscape is to be preserved for the general public and the natural character of the landscape characterized by the identified landscape-defining elements is to be preserved.
