The Lindenweiher is a still water in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg community Hochdorf in the district of Biberach in Germany .

location

The approximately three and a half hectare "Lindenweiher" is located in the valley of the Riss , about 2.2 kilometers southwest of the Hochdorf center near the hamlet of Linden , at an altitude of 548.6  m above sea level. NHN .

Today it is owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg and leased to a local fishing club .

Hydrology

The pond was created in the 12th century when a dam was raised when Linden Castle was being built on the northern bank of today's pond .

The catchment area of the "Lindenweiher" extends to 94 hectares. The size of the water surface is 3.5 hectares, with an average depth of 0.9 meters and a maximum depth of 2.1 meters, the volume is around 33,000 cubic meters.

The inflow of the lake comes from spring pots as well as through meadow and drainage ditches, the outflow - only during floods - via a meadow ditch and the crack into the Danube and ultimately into the Black Sea .

Since 2000, Hochdorf has been involved in the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes with the “Lindenweiher” . An important goal of this program is to reduce nutrient inputs in streams, lakes and ponds and thereby improve and maintain the condition of the water bodies.

60 percent of the pond's catchment area is used for agriculture - 31 percent of which is green and 69 percent arable land.
