The Königseggsee is a still water in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg municipality Hoßkirch in the district of Ravensburg in Germany . The popular bathing lake is also called Hoßkircher See or Hokisee for short.

location

The approximately 16 hectares large Königseggsee , about one kilometer southeast of the Hoßkircher center at an altitude of 626.5  meters above sea level. NHN located, is one of the natural area of Upper Swabian hills . Today it is used for fishing and bathing purposes.

Hydrology

The Königseggsee was formed around 16,000 years ago towards the end of the last glacial period. Its catchment area extends to 245 hectares. The size of the water surface is 15.6  hectares , with an average depth of 6.4 meters and a maximum depth of 9.6 meters, the volume is around 994,000 cubic meters.

The inflow of the lake is through two ditches and springs at the bottom, the outflow over the Seebach and the Ostrach to the Danube and thus to the Black Sea .

ecology

Since 1989 Hoßkirch and are Königseggwald , Guggenhausen , Unterwaldhausen and Riedhausen (only catchment area) with the Königseggsee the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes involved. An important goal of this program is to reduce nutrient inputs in streams, lakes and ponds and thereby improve and maintain the condition of the water bodies.

45 percent of the lake's catchment area is used for forest and 50 percent for agriculture - of which 71% grassland and 29% arable land.
