The pond has a to about 725 m above sea level. NHN underlying water surface of 7.2 ha , a volume of 125,000 m³, is up to 3.7 m and an average of 1.8 m deep. Its catchment area covers about 9.0 km². It drains over the Maierhöfener Bach , which is also the largest tributary, into the Untere Argen , one of the two upper reaches of the Lake Constance tributary Argen . The inflows are polluted with phosphate due to intensive agricultural cultivation in the area with high water levels. The pond silts up very quickly.
