The Flappachweiher is a still water in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg city ​​of Ravensburg in the district of Ravensburg in Germany .

location

The approximately six hectare , artificially created "Flappachweiher" is located about 3.8 kilometers southeast of the Ravensburg city center, at an altitude of 522.9  m above sea level. NHN , between the districts Waidenhofen and Strietach in the west and the community to green herb belonging Menisreute the east.

The pond is owned by the Ravensburg Water Association , which has leased it to a local fishing club .

Hydrology

The catchment area of ​​the "Flappachweiher" extends to 305 hectares. The size of the water surface is 5.7  hectares , with an average depth of 3.7 meters and a maximum depth of 5.5 meters, the volume is around 210,000 cubic meters.

The inflow of the pond comes from springs in the eastern slope and the Kemmerlanger Moos in the south, the outflow over the Flappach and the Schussen into Lake Constance , thus into the Rhine and ultimately into the North Sea .

ecology

Since 2000, Ravensburg and Grünkraut (catchment area only) have been involved in the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes with the “Flappachweiher” . An important goal of this program is to reduce nutrient inputs in streams, lakes and ponds and thereby improve and maintain the condition of the water bodies.

55 percent of the pond's catchment area is used for forest and 40 percent for agriculture - 56 percent of which is grassland, 34 percent arable land and 10 percent specialty crops such as hops and fruit  .
