The Ayweiher , also Aiweiher , is a still water in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg large district town Biberach an der Riss in the district of Biberach in Germany .

The approximately four hectares large Ayweiher lies west of Biberach district Stafflangen , about seven kilometers west of Biberach city center, at an altitude of 587.4  meters above sea level. NHN .

It was created in the 15th or 16th century as a mill pond for the "Aimühle". Today it is privately owned and leased to a fishing club .

Hydrology

The catchment area of ​​the Ayweiher extends over 617 hectares. The size of the water surface is 3.8  hectares , with an average depth of 1.5 meters and a maximum depth of 3.0 meters, the volume is around 57,000 cubic meters.

The main inflow of the lake comes from the southwest and several drainage ditches from the west, the outflow via the weir at the northern tip and a turbine into the Mühlbach and Rotbach into the Riss and the Danube into the Black Sea .

Since 2005, Biberach as well as Oggelshausen and Tiefenbach (catchment area only) have been involved with the Ayweiher in the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes . An important goal of this program is to reduce nutrient inputs in streams, lakes and ponds and thereby improve and maintain the condition of the water bodies.

30 percent of the lake's catchment area is used for forest and 70 percent for agriculture - 30 percent of which is grassland and 70 percent arable land.
