Stafflangen is a district of the large district town of Biberach an der Riß in the Biberach district in Upper Swabia .

description

Stafflangen includes the hamlets Eggelsbach, Eichen, Hofen and Streitberg, the Aichmühle, Maierhof and Mösmühle farms. The place is located on the edge of the Stafflanger Ried, eight kilometers west of Biberach, in a former glacier tongue basin on Landstraße 280. Within Stafflangen, the settlement on the west side of the Mühlbachaue is called "Kleinstafflangen". Remains of a Roman manor were discovered in 1949. A parish in Stafflangen was first mentioned in 1275. The Merovingian church patron Remigius von Reims could refer to an older dating of the parish. The lordship over the place lay alternately in the hands of the free worldly ladies' monastery Buchau , Reichsabtei Schussenried , Monastery Beuron and changing secular local authorities. In the late Middle Ages the Upper Landvogtei Swabia exercised the high and blood jurisdiction . In 1397 the parish of Stafflangen was incorporated into the Schussenried monastery .

In 1709 a mayor officiated in Stafflangen . In the years 1758–60, the Reichsabbey of Schussenried built a three-winged parish palace for the abbots. After the town was incorporated into the Kingdom of Württemberg , the Stafflangen mayor exercised state sovereignty. On January 1, 1972 Stafflangen was incorporated into Biberach. In the 18th century the place was still characterized by extensive pond farming, in 2013 five hundred commuters were counted who went to work in nearby Biberach. A larger new building area with around 80 houses was built in 1967. It connects Kleinstafflangen with Stafflangen.
