The Steidlesee is a still water in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg municipalities of Krauchenwies and Sigmaringendorf in the district of Sigmaringen in Germany .

location

The approximately 25 hectare “Steidlesee” with a shore length of about 2,910 meters is located about 1.7 kilometers north of the Krauchenwieser town center and west of the state road 456 from Sigmaringen to Krauchenwies, at an altitude of 573.8  m above sea level. NHN .

Hydrology

The lake was created around 1980 through gravel mining . Its catchment area - 80 percent is used for forestry - extends to 168 hectares. The size of the water surface is 24.8  hectares , with an average depth of 4.3 meters and a maximum depth of 8.5 meters, the volume is around 1,066,000 cubic meters.

The inflow of the lake occurs through groundwater , the outflow through the Ablach and the Danube into the Black Sea .

ecology

Since 2005 Krauchenwies and Sigmaringendorf have been involved in the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes with the “Steidlesee” . An important goal of this program is to reduce nutrient inputs in streams, lakes and ponds and thereby improve and maintain the condition of the water bodies.
