The Buchsee is a still water in the area of the Baden-Württemberg municipality Fronreute in the district of Ravensburg in Germany .
location
The 6.7 hectare large Buchsee , about two kilometers northwest of the town center Fronreuter the hamlet Buchsee and at an altitude of 575.9 meters above sea level. NHN , is privately owned and is used as fishing and bathing water for a campsite.
Hydrology
The lake that was formed in a dead ice hole during the last ice age now has a catchment area of around 246 hectares. The size of the water surface is 6.7 hectares, with an average depth of 1.1 meters and a maximum depth of 1.7 meters, the volume is around 76,400 cubic meters.
The main inflow of the lake takes place via groundwater inflow and from the Häcklerweiher , the outflow via the Schreckensee and the Hühler Ach zur Schussen , thus to Lake Constance or Rhine and ultimately into the North Sea .
ecology
Since 1989 Uttenweiler is the Buchsee the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes involved. An important goal of this program is to reduce nutrient inputs in streams, lakes and ponds and thereby improve and maintain the condition of the water bodies.
The catchment area of the lake is used to 30 percent for forest and 70 percent for agriculture - mainly arable land (30%) and grassland (40%).

Protected area
The Buchsee is part of the nature reserve " Dornach Ried with Häckler Ried, Häckler pond and Buchsee " (4001) and the early forest "Einöd" (200404).
