history
Finds show a settlement since the Neolithic. A 4 m high menhir in Launay clearly shows this. Two clearly visible mounds of earth from the 10th and 11th centuries in Croas-Husto and Kerham indicate small fortifications. In the Middle Ages the community belonged to various feudal lords and until 1790 formed a parish in the diocese of Tréguier.
Population development
Between 1793 and 1821 the population grew strongly. In the following decades up to 1872 it fluctuated - apart from an upward swing in 1866 - around values of 1200 to 1300 inhabitants. This was followed by a sustained gradual decline in the number of residents within a century to the low point in 1975 (1872–1975: -52.7%). Since then, the population has grown steadily and is now just under 900 people (1975–2013: + 52.6%).
