Population development

Between 1793 and 1821 the population grew strongly. Thereafter, until 1881, it always fluctuated between 1550 and 1650 inhabitants. In the 10 years from 1881 to 1891 the number of residents fell by around 200 people. Until the beginning of World War I, the population remained stable at around 1400 people. In the period from the beginning of World War I to the end of World War II, the number of residents continued to decline due to the lack of fallen young men and migration to the centers. A third wave of emigration followed between 1962 and 1975 and led to a low of just under 1,000 residents. Today the population is around 100 people above the historical low of around 1100 people.
