Kerbors ( Breton : Kerborzh ) is a French municipality with 305 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Côtes-d'Armor in the region of Brittany . It is part of the Lannion arrondissement and the canton of Tréguier . The residents call themselves Kerborzien or Kerborzienne .
geography
Kerbors lies east of the Côte de Granit Rose in the far north of Brittany. In the northwest, the municipality is bounded by the estuary of the coastal river Jaudy , which merges with the English Channel at high tide, but exposes extensive sandbanks and small rock islands at low tide. Opposite the Jaudy are the municipalities of Plouguiel and Plougrescant . Other neighboring communities are Pleubian in the northeast, Pleumeur-Gautier in the southeast and Trédarzec in the southwest. The small town of Tréguier is seven kilometers southwest of Kerbors, the town of Paimpol twelve kilometers southeast. The municipality of Kerbors consists of numerous scattered individual farms and hamlets, of which Bellevue and Crec'h Arhant are the largest.
history
The community was first established on March 21, 1791, when it was separated from the municipality of Pleubian . This act was considered illegal a little later, but was re-confirmed on May 17, 1856. The name Kerbors comes from the Breton Ker- (village) and -Porz (inner courtyard).
Population development
Since the beginning of the 20th century the municipality has recorded a continuous decline in population. While in 1896 there were still 924 inhabitants, in 1975 there were still 368 inhabitants. Since then, the population decline has continued slowly.
