Plouaret (Breton: Plouared ) is a French municipality with 2,139 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Côtes-d'Armor in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Lannion and the canton of Plestin-les-Grèves (until 2015: canton of Plouaret ). The inhabitants are called Plouarétais (es) .
In February 2016, Plouaret was one of 13 municipalities that belonged to level 3 of the Charter Ya d'ar brezhoneg for the promotion of the Breton language.
geography
Plouaret is about ten kilometers south of the Atlantic coast . In the southwest the small river Roscoat borders the municipality. Plouaret is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ploumilliau in the north and northwest, Ploubezre in the north and northeast, Le Vieux-Marché in the east, Plounévez-Moëdec in the south and southeast, Lanvellec in the west and Plouzélambre in the northwest.
The branch line to Lannion branches off at Plouaret station on the Paris – Brest line , where local trains and individual TGVs stop.
