European Games 2015 / Triathlon
At the 2015 European Games in Baku , Azerbaijan , two triathlon competitions were held on June 13 and 14, 2015 - one for women and one for men. The “Olympic distance” in triathlon includes 1.5 kilometers of swimming , 40 kilometers of cycling and a 10,000-meter run . The venue was Bilgah Beach.

The women's race was the first competition in Baku.
Almost three years after the historic sprint to the finish in the Olympic triathlon in London , the reigning European champion in the Olympic distance and Olympic champion Nicola Spirig from Switzerland and the Swede Lisa Nordén , who at the time was slightly inferior in the photo finish , met again in Baku .
Spirig won the race in Baku with a lead of 1:16 minutes over Rachel Klamer from the Netherlands and Nordén took third place.

Briton Gordon Benson , who was third in the U23 European Championship in August 2014 , won the men's race and secured the first gold medal for the United Kingdom. With the gold medal, he qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games .
In second place, eleven seconds behind, was the Portuguese João Pedro Silva , who was strong on the final run, and in third place was the surprisingly strong local hero Rostyslaw Pjewzow .
