Gordon Benson (born May 12, 1994 in Halifax ) is a British triathlete and Olympian (2016).

Career

Gordon Benson was Vice European Champion Duathlon in 2011 in Limerick, Ireland . In 2014 he became the U23 European triathlon champion.

He won the men's race at the European Games in 2015 (alongside Swiss Nicola Spirig ) and secured the first gold medal for the United Kingdom. With the gold medal, he qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games.

2016 Summer Olympics

Gordon Benson started for Great Britain at the Summer Olympics in Brazil - together with Helen Jenkins , Non Stanford , Vicky Holland and the two brothers Jonathan and Alistair Brownlee , but he was unable to finish the race after a fall on his bike.

In July 2019, the 25-year-old became European champion triathlon sprint distance among the pros in the elite class in Kazan (Russia).

Gordon Benson lives in Leeds .
