Pouldouran ( Breton : Pouldouran ) is a village and a former French community with 165 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Côtes-d'Armor in the region of Brittany . It belonged to the arrondissement of Lannion and the canton of Tréguier (until 2015 canton of La Roche-Derrien ). The residents refer to themselves as Pouldourannais (e) .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of La Roche-Derrien , Hengoat , Pommerit-Jaudy and Pouldouran were merged to form Commune nouvelle La Roche-Jaudy and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in La Roche-Derrien.
geography
Pouldouran is about 19 kilometers east of Lannion . In addition to the village of Pouldouran, the Commune déléguée also includes numerous scattered settlements and individual farms within the former municipality.
A total of three neighboring towns surround Pouldouran, namely Trédarzec in the north, Hengoat in the east and south and Troguéry in the west.
history
The place was first mentioned when Saint-Yves was canonized in 1330 (as Poldoran ). The de Pouldouran family who owned it died out in the 17th century.
Population development
The place has always been a community with a small population. In the forty years between 1806 and 1846 the population grew to a peak (1806-1846: + 58%). The number of residents fell slightly by 1901 - but remained above the 300 person mark. Afterwards it sank to the low point of 145 inhabitants in 1982 (1901-1982: -55%) due to several waves of emigration. Since then, the population has increased slightly again.
