The cross pond

The Moore and Weiher area around Neukirch was a protected area (SG number DE-8324341) in the southeast of the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, designated by the Tübingen regional council according to Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) . In 2015 it was integrated into the FFH area Argen and wetlands near Neukirch and Langnau .

location

The 240 hectare (ha) large protected area Moore and Weiher around Neukirch belonged naturally to the Lake Constance basin and Westallgäu hill country . Its approximately fifteen partial areas were at an altitude of 478 to 580  m above sea level. NHN and extended to 84 percent (= 201.6 ha) in the Lake Constance district ( Neukirch municipality , city of Tettnang ) and 16 percent (= 38.4 hectares) in the Ravensburg district (municipalities of Amtzell and Bodnegg ).

The sub-areas essentially comprised the area around Neukirch, from Obereisenbach in the north-west, Gebhards- and Rappertsweiler in the south-west, the Haslach in the east and the Herzogenweiher in the north.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose was the preservation of the large number of moors , ponds and lakes in the depressions of the Jungmöränen landscape around Neukirch, partly in the open country, partly in the forest.

Habitats

The large number of habitat types with streams, still waters and a largely unadulterated settlement structure with elements of traditional land use is mainly characterized by the following habitats: moist and mesophilic grassland (45%), meliorated grassland (12%) as well as bogs, swamps and bank vegetation (11%) .
